Happy Anniversary Pierre

Today marks the 201st anniversary of Pierre Cruzatte’s accident, the incident for which — fortunately for me, unfortunately for him — people best remember Monsieur Cruzatte. I had hoped to finish this blog’s statement of purpose by today. But, in the best tradition of Meriwether Lewis’s post-expedition editing travails, I haven’t even started.

The 201st anniversary of the Buttshot Bicentennial — the anniversary of Pierre Cruzatte accidentally shooting Captain Lewis in the butt — arrives on August 11.
